Papers of the London Missionary Society, Niue, 1910-1953 (inclusive) [microform].

The collection contains correspondence between missionaries of the London Missionary Society, Niue, and the local administration, and LMS representatives overseas, 1910-1953. Baptisms and church members are listed in registers dated 1926-1947 and 1872-1912 respectively. The logbook and statistics cover the period 1920-1949. The chronicle of important events begins with Captain Cook's discovery of Niue in 1774 and is brought down to the year 1928. The events chronicled do not necessarily concern the London Missionary Society on Niue. It is not known when the church roll was originally compiled, but revisions were made in 1928 and 1948. Miscellaneous papers contain programs in English and Niuean containing a brief history of the LMS on Niue, issued in 1968 to celebrate the centenary of the mission on the island; a 30 page booklet entitled "Ko e Tohi Fakamanatuaga he Senetenari a Peniamina, Niue, 1846-1946; and a 12 page booklet entitled "Fefe kia ke Maeke kia au ke Talia a Keriso?". The register of students at Vailahi Institute, 1921-1966 gives information about examinations, diplomas, accommodation of students, holidays, etc., and teachers' notes.
